We are all about MUSIC, FREEDOM and the GREAT OUTDOORS

But why the Sasquatch suit?  There is a mystique about Bigfoot right now.  Besides, I always wanted to try my hand at acting. The idea of a  Rock Star Sasquatch always intuged me. For years I have written scripts for puppets-  Time I wrote a Bigfoot Dan script. The Real Deal.

Being an artist by trade,  I had a vision in my mind’s eye of what Bigfoot Dan should look like.  I would not be happy till he looked that way.  I didn’t want him to scare people.  I wanted him to be a Rock Star living along the shores of Lake Gitchegumee with all his “Tagalong” friends (who I also created) with an inclination to somehow one day be accepted into normal American society.  A real challenge.

The costume was another matter.  I didn’t have any sewing skills, so I had to devise a crude method of construction consisting of hot melt glue, faux fur and paneling adhesive.  I bought a jump suit- stuffed it like a scarecrow- then applied the faux fur in sections.  50 or so tubes of paneling adhesive later.  There it was lying at my feet- a huge 40 lb. Sasquatch suit difficult to get into, hot to wear.

it’s great filming on location in the wild.  I love the outdoors.  Any excuse to spend time in the wild of Northern Wisconsin is a yes in my book.  Also technology has made great advances in film editing software, making it easier for the do it yourself types like me to create fairly decent results.  The updates to the software never stop.  You don’t need 20th Century Fox anymore.  All you need is imagination and a good original idea and guts.  It’s not easy to wear the costume.  It’s eerie.  Not unlike a real Yeti- you don’t want to be seen by people.  It can be dangerous too. People carry guns.  I could perhaps be mistaken for a real Sasquatch while filming on lacation and be shot by a  tourist.

Sometimes I think maybe I go too far with the creation thing.

Art and Music are forms of Communication

Rick Kremer

I am an Artist/Musician. I Played cover songs in local bands in the Duluth- Superior area most of my life.  I wrote, recorded and performed my own songs as a solo.  I also worked as a wild life wood sculptor, selling works in shops and galleries around  Lake Superior and this skill led me to try making a few puppets as a hobby.  Being a writer it’s fun to develop characters and writing script for them.

5' Deer Sculpture

I designed and built this sculpture on the fly.  It includes many native and exotic woods.  Most of my time now goes to the Bigfoot Dan project.  But I still carve some, and plan to do more in the future.  It is hazardous time consuming work.

An Inspiring Location

One can’t help but find inspiration in such a beautiful location.  I grew up ice-sailing on the St. Louis River in the foreground.  Duluth, Minnesota is on the left- Superior, Wisconsin on the right.  Lake Superior on the horizon. The Scenic North Shore seen in upper lefthand corner.

It's hard to explain...When I carve it's like I am amazed at my own ability. It's the same way with playing the guitar. I Like designing the Best.

The woods I use are sometimes exotic as well as native. I have built murals and custom furniture.

A Word about Green Screen

It’s a New Age!  The Digital Age. Now it is possible to super-impose any video behind you making it appear as if you are somewhere else.  This technique has been used for years.  It started with Star Trek with the space ship model mounted on a green stick filmed in front of a green screen.  Then they just added  a space background.  Basically everything showing green is “Keyed” out (chromacolor) which allows a background video to be added.  It has become a common practice and you see it used everywhere.  Newscasters use it as a standard practice.  On the Weather Reports it makes it possible for the weather forecaster to stand in front of a weather map.  He is super-imposed in front of a digital map via Green Screen.  He sees himself in a monitor how the broadcast looks to the public and acts accordingly. We will be using it from time to time in filming the Bigfoot Dan music videos too!  A great tool.
